My dad started training me in Tae Kwon Do when I was probably about ten years old. He's a fifth degree black belt, and we trained in our basement. Eventually, my cousins Rich and Molly joined us, and we all went on to win a few sparring tournaments. In high school, when I was sixteen, I finally earned my black belt after studying and practicing for years. To this day, I'm proud of that accomplishment, and encourage every diabetic to pursue their goals to participate in sports or anything involving intense physical activity. Sure, we have to take precautions to make sure the dragon doesn't growl too loudly or throw off our game, but we can still be champions just like anyone else.
